Oriakhi Named Sales Director as Nigerian Breweries Charts Bold Growth Path

Nigerian Breweries Plc, Nigeria’s pioneer and largest brewing company, has announced the appointment of Emmanuel Oriakhi as its new Sales Director, effective March 24, 2025. The appointment was formally communicated in a statement signed by the company’s Managing Director, Hans Essaadi.

Oriakhi, who has been holding the Sales Director position in an acting capacity since November 2024 while also serving as Marketing Director, will officially continue to oversee the Marketing Function until June 1, 2025, when a new Marketing Director is expected to be announced.

In his new role, Oriakhi is charged with leading the sales team to deliver superior trade execution, improve customer experience, and drive greater distribution efficiency and productivity. He will also steer the reintegration of Trade Marketing and Key Accounts from the Marketing division back into Sales, creating a more unified and agile commercial organization.

A strong advocate for innovation and inclusion, Oriakhi will champion initiatives that future-proof the company’s salesforce, including capability development and the promotion of women through the Women in Sales (WIS) program. These efforts are part of Nigerian Breweries’ broader strategy to thrive in a dynamic market environment while reinforcing a culture of commercial excellence.

Commenting on Oriakhi’s contributions, Uzo Odenigbo, the Corporate Affairs Director, highlighted his impressive track record. “Since becoming Marketing Director in 2018, Emmanuel has led several breakthrough innovations across our brand portfolio—introducing market successes like Desperados, Zagg, Legend Twist, Goldberg Black, and Heineken 45cl. His strategic leadership has also strengthened our premium positioning with global brands such as Heineken, Tiger, and Desperados.”

Oriakhi’s journey with Nigerian Breweries began in 2003 as a Commercial Management Trainee. Over the past two decades, he has held several senior roles within Nigerian Breweries and the HEINEKEN Group internationally. Notably, his team won the HEINEKEN Global Commercial Assertiveness Award for revitalizing regional brands and stabilizing market share in Nigeria.

Known for his commitment to talent development, Oriakhi has continuously encouraged cross-functional learning and international exposure among his team members through stretch projects and Short-Term Assignments (STAs).
