The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Obiageli Orah, has been officially inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), solidifying her position as a certified public relations professional and advocate for public trust in government institutions.
The induction ceremony, which took place during a recent gathering of industry professionals, highlighted Orah’s significant contributions to public communication within the aviation sector. It also marked a defining moment in her career, which has been anchored in strategic communication, transparency, and consumer protection.
Speaking shortly after her induction, Mrs. Orah described the honour as a personal and institutional milestone. “This is not just a recognition of my work at FAAN, but also a call to deepen the standards of public communication in our institutions,” she said. “Public trust is the foundation of our work, and as a member of NIPR, I remain committed to advancing ethical and transparent engagement.”
Since assuming her role at FAAN, Orah has led various initiatives aimed at improving consumer experiences across Nigerian airports. Her tenure has seen the deployment of real-time communication platforms, proactive passenger engagement systems, and swift resolution mechanisms for customer complaints.
Industry stakeholders have lauded the induction, noting that Orah’s approach to public communication has been instrumental in reshaping FAAN’s image and operational transparency. NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, said the inclusion of experienced public sector communicators like Orah is key to strengthening professionalism across Nigeria’s public institutions.
“Her track record in consumer advocacy and effective crisis management speaks volumes,” Dr. Neliaku stated. “Professionals like Mrs. Orah bring credibility and structure to how public institutions engage with the citizens they serve.”
Orah’s induction is viewed as a reinforcement of FAAN’s ongoing efforts to modernize its public interface and rebuild trust among airport users. It also sends a clear message that public relations, when effectively applied, remains a powerful tool in government accountability and service delivery.
With this new professional chapter, Mrs. Orah joins a growing list of seasoned communicators in the NIPR who are championing people-centered and responsive public service delivery.
