In a significant boost to Bayelsa State’s investment drive, Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji (Dr.) Aliko Dangote, GCON, paid a business visit to Governor Douye Diri at Government House, Yenagoa, on Monday.

The high-profile meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bayelsa State Government and Dangote Group, setting the stage for a broad-based economic partnership.

Governor Diri, in a statement reflecting on the visit, described the engagement as a turning point for the state’s “Prosperity Administration” and its ambition to create an enabling environment for private sector-led development.

“This morning, I received Alhaji Dangote in what I consider a defining moment for Bayelsa’s economic future,” Diri said. “We have signed an MoU with the Dangote Group for a rewarding partnership in critical sectors including agriculture, oil and gas, power, education, sports, the blue economy, and infrastructure.”

According to the report, governor noted that the collaboration is aligned with his administration’s Assured Prosperity agenda, aimed at unlocking the state’s vast natural resources to stimulate sustainable growth and job creation.

Diri also expressed appreciation for Dangote’s interest in Bayelsa’s investment potential and his encouraging remarks about the government’s achievements over the past five years.

“Dr. Dangote’s kind words on our leadership and progress are deeply appreciated. More importantly, his commitment to exploring new business opportunities in Bayelsa reaffirms our state’s readiness to welcome credible investors,” he said.

Dangote’s visit is widely seen as a vote of confidence in Bayelsa’s economic direction and governance. The Dangote Group, known for its major industrial ventures across Nigeria and Africa, is expected to play a catalytic role in accelerating industrial activity in the state.
