Customs Intercepts 15 Dismantled Vehicles, Nabs 7 Over Duty Evasion

The Federal Operation Unit Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service have confiscated 15 Vehicles which were all cut in parts concealed to evade duties and arrested seven suspects. This is in addition to 1263 used tires, bullet proof vests and 11used vehicles valued at about N1.28 Billion equally impounded by the command. This was disclosed to newsmen by the Controller of the Command Mohamed Shaibu on Thursday June 3 in Lagos.
The Controller commended the Officers of his Community for their unwavering dedication and steadfastness to their duties which led to the achievement while pledging to intensify its operations on smuggling and economic sabotage.
Shaibu described the latest operation as a testament to the units renewed commitment to intelligence led enforcement, stating that it will sustain more formidable defence against smugglers..

According to him ” as criminal gets more desperate and daring, we at the federal Operation Unit Zone A will ensure the sustainability of a more formidable defence against any antics devised by these none state actors “. he stated.
Highlights of the seizures include 1263 used tires, bullet proof vests, 11 used vehicles comprising 7 Mitsubishi Canters, 5 Toyota Hiace buses , all dismantled and concealed to evade duties while equally confirming that seven suspects were arrested in connection with the seizures.
