West and Central Africa’s largest airline, Air Peace, is extending its international footprint after making history with its first-ever nonstop flight from Abuja to St. Kitts.
On 12 June 2025, Air Peace’s Boeing 777 touched down at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, after a 10-hour transatlantic flight from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The new route, a first for a Nigerian carrier, underscores Air Peace’s growing role in strengthening Africa’s connectivity with key markets across the globe.
The inaugural service was timed to coincide with a Pan-African business conference in the Eastern Caribbean, reflecting Air Peace’s growing trajectory and its ability to connect the continent with previously untapped financial hubs.
This is the third time Air Peace has opened up a direct link to the Caribbean in the last five years. In December 2020, the airline launched its first nonstop service from Lagos to Montego Bay, Jamaica — a route that paved the way for its growing range with its Boeing 777s. This was followed by a direct flight from Lagos to V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua and Barbuda in August 2023 — making Air Peace the first Nigerian airline to reach that destination. The St. Kitts route further consolidates its growing international profile.
The St. Kitts service was powered by one of Air Peace’s two Boeing 777 aircraft — the same jets currently used for its daily operations from Lagos to London’s Gatwick Airport, which began in March 2024 — another significant first for a Nigerian private carrier.
Looking ahead, Air Peace shows no sign of slowing down its expansion. According to chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Allen Onyema, additional long-haul aircraft are currently being secured to enable the launch of new services to both Houston and New York — strengthening ties between Africa and its diaspora.
With its growing route network, Air Peace is sending a powerful message: “Nigeria to the world — no stops, no limits.” The new Abuja–St. Kitts route is not just a solitary breakthrough; it’s a major step forward in Air Peace’s transformation from a regional powerhouse into a strong contender on the international stage.
