In a strategic move to enhance the welfare of public servants, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has hosted a capacity-building workshop focused on the Group Life Assurance Policy in Abuja.

The workshop brought together officials from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to improve awareness and understanding of the policy’s implementation and benefits.

Speaking at the event, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack—represented by Mrs. Oyekunle Patience—highlighted the critical role of insurance in safeguarding the lives and financial security of civil servants. She commended President Bola Tinubu for renewing the annuity policy and praised NAICOM for its initiative in organizing the training.

“The Group Life Assurance Policy is a vital component of the government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce. This workshop reflects our resolve to empower public servants and ensure their families are protected,” she said.

Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, represented by Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, Mr. Ekerete Ola Gam-Ikon, emphasized NAICOM’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the administration of insurance policies.

“This collaboration underscores our dedication to fostering an inclusive and accountable insurance environment. We are committed to ensuring that all eligible employees fully understand and benefit from the Group Life Assurance Policy,” Omosehin stated.

The training session provided participants with insights into the operational framework, claims processes, and benefits of the policy. It also aimed to promote seamless integration of the insurance scheme across the federal civil service.

Industry observers view the workshop as a step forward in deepening insurance penetration in the public sector and reinforcing the government’s resolve to prioritize civil servants’ welfare under its Renewed Hope Agenda.

The event concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to ongoing collaboration, capacity building, and sustained awareness to ensure effective policy implementation nationwide.
