The Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, and the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mrs. Omolola Oloworaran, will be special guests of honour at the SUPERNEWS Nigeria Conference on June 19, 2025.

The event, themed “Power of AI: Enhancing Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction for Better Financial Services Experience”, is scheduled to take place at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos, starting from 10 a.m.

Managing Director of Cowry Asset Management Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, will deliver the keynote address, while Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, chairman of NGX Group, is set to preside over the conference.

Alhaji Kwairanga brings nearly two decades of financial industry experience to the role. He holds first and postgraduate degrees in business administration, corporate governance and finance, alongside training from Harvard Business School, Wharton, and the New York Institute of Finance. His professional certifications include Chartered Stockbroker (CIS) and Certified Pension Specialist — credentials reflecting his deep expertise in financial markets.

He is currently Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FinMal Finance Services Ltd, Director of Jaiz Bank PLC, Director of Central Securities Clearing System PLC, Chairman of Penman PFA Ltd, and President of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria. His service extends to policy advisory, where he is a Member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Industrial Relation.

Alhaji Kwairanga is recognized for turning around Ashaka Cement PLC’s financial performance, strengthening its revenue base for Gombe State through diligent payments of taxes and other obligations, alongside honoring its corporate social responsibilities.

Other panelists expected at the SUPERNEWS Conference include Mrs. Adeolu Adewumi-Zer (ZER Consulting Africa), Mrs. Thaibat Adeniran (former MD, Hilal Takaful Insurance), Dr. Uju Ogubunka (President, Bank Customers Association of Nigeria), and Mr. Ayokunle Olubunmi (Augusto & Co’s Head of Financial Institutions Ratings).

The event is expected to bring together regulators, financial institutions, innovators, small business owners, and stakeholders to collectively reflect on strategies for navigating and optimizing Artificial Intelligence’s growing role in financial services delivery.

According to SUPERNEWS’s Publisher, Ngozi Onyeakusi, the conference is designed to foster awareness, deepen understanding, and enable stakeholders to leverage Artificial Intelligence to make financial services more accessible, convenient, cost-effective, and adaptable.

AI’s growing significance — with its projected $3.9 trillion in business value by 2022, up from $1.2 trillion in 2018 — underscores its potential to enable financial institutions to reach more customers while reducing operational costs and strengthening service delivery.
