The President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Mrs. Maureen Chigbo, has extended heartfelt appreciation to guests and supporters who participated in the maiden launch of the Guild’s new publication titled “Nigeria Media Renaissance: GOCOP Perspective on Online Publishing.”
In her remarks at the event, Mrs. Chigbo commended the presence of dignitaries, media professionals, and stakeholders, noting that their attendance signified strong support for the evolving landscape of ethical online journalism in Nigeria.
“On behalf of GOCOP leadership and members, I thank you for taking time off your busy schedule to honour us with your presence. We do not take it for granted,” she stated.
She also acknowledged those who, though unable to attend, sent representatives or offered prayers for the success of the occasion. “God answered us and blessed the day. May He bless you too for making our dreams come true,” she added.
The book launch marked a significant milestone for the Guild as it pushes forward in its mission to foster professional standards and sustainability in digital journalism. As part of this broader vision, Mrs. Chigbo used the platform to appeal for continued support towards the construction of the proposed GOCOP Media Centre.
“We welcome all forms of support from those who have contributed and from those who will, in one way or another, help us actualize our objective of building the GOCOP Media Centre,” she said.
The event underscored the Guild’s commitment to shaping a credible, independent, and forward-looking online media industry in Nigeria. The publication, which captures the Guild’s insights and experiences in the digital space, is expected to serve as a resource for both practitioners and media scholars.
The GOCOP President concluded her address with an expression of optimism and gratitude, saying, “Thank you. Have a great day.”
