Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, OON, has urged women professionals to embrace continuous learning, courage, and collaboration as core strategies for achieving long-term career success.

She made this call during a Women’s Roundtable event hosted by Fidelity Bank at the Fidelity SME Hub in Gbagada, Lagos. The session, themed “Mentorship with Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe”, drew female professionals from various sectors and formed part of the HerFidelity Proposition—a gender-focused initiative by the bank aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and professionals.

Speaking at the event, Onyeali-Ikpe explained that HerFidelity was developed in response to a growing need for support systems that extend beyond financial access.

“In my engagements with women across industries, I have seen the abundance of talent and ambition. However, access to capital, skills development, healthcare, and professional networks remains a major challenge,” she said.

“That’s why HerFidelity was designed to address these gaps, focusing on four key pillars—access to capital, capacity building, wellness, and entrepreneurship support. It’s an initiative I’m particularly proud of because when women succeed, society and the economy benefit as well.”

The interactive session featured a mentorship dialogue in Q&A format, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the bank’s CEO. Onyeali-Ikpe shared personal experiences, professional advice, and career lessons drawn from her journey in the banking industry.

Addressing the aspiring female leaders present, she said:

“Believe in yourself, be willing to work hard, and don’t shy away from taking smart risks. Surround yourself with mentors, build strong relationships, and most importantly, collaborate—because no one achieves success in isolation.”

The event also featured competitions and giveaways, with attendees winning various prizes courtesy of Fidelity Bank.

The roundtable reinforced Fidelity Bank’s ongoing commitment to gender inclusion and its role as a key driver of women’s empowerment in business and leadership across Nigeria.
