CGC ADENIYI ELECTION AS CHAIRPERSON OF WCO EXCITES TINUBU, SAYS IT’S WELL DESERVED.

President Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday Congratulated the Controller General of Customs Wale Adeniyi on his historic election as the Chairperson of the Council of World Customs Organisation WCO , describing it as not only well deserved but an honour to Nigeria. The president made this remarks through a release on Saturday 28 of June by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga .It will be recalled thatAdeniyi made history as the first Nigerian to head the 73 years old body, which has 186 member countries and is the highest decision making body in global Custom administration. The president believes that hoisting of Nigerian flag at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels marks a significant milestone. The president recalls numerous achievements and reforms introduced by CGC Adeniyi and his team since assuming office which has remained unparalleled in the history of Custom. He specifically pointed out the digitalisation processes which has enhanced seamless and transparent transaction, thereby increasing revenues and blocking leakages which have hitherto remained intractable. According to him ” This event demonstrates the dynamism of the leadership provided by Adeniyi who has been the head of the Nigerian Custom Service since his arrest two years ago” , the President stated.
