Seplat Energy Plc, a foremost Nigerian independent energy company, has reaffirmed its commitment to media capacity building with the successful execution of the first batch of its annual media training programme, themed Media Entrepreneurship. The training, held on June 25th and 26th, 2025, in Lagos, equipped 50 journalists with essential business and leadership skills to thrive in an evolving media and economic landscape.

The intensive two-day workshop was organized in partnership with ELOH Consulting Ltd and brought together reporters and correspondents covering the capital market, judiciary, finance, and business across print, broadcast, and online platforms.

Speaking at the opening session, Mr. Stanley Opara, Manager, Corporate Communications, Seplat Energy, who represented Mrs. Chioma Afe, Director, External Affairs & Social Performance, explained that the initiative was designed not only to empower journalists with entrepreneurial and leadership skills but also to cultivate a new generation of media professionals capable of running sustainable enterprises and driving impactful change.

“This programme is a strategic investment in our media ecosystem,” Mrs Afe said. “We’re nurturing business-minded journalists who can lead responsibly and innovate for a stronger society.”

Participants benefitted from an outstanding lineup of facilitators and resource persons, including:
