The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled a renewed commitment to global competitiveness, national security, and strategic business development, following a week of high-level engagements led by its Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
The week kicked off with the maiden edition of the Directorate of Commercial and Business Development Engagement Forum, bringing together FAAN’s concessionaires and business partners in a bid to strengthen partnerships and outline a long-term growth agenda.
Addressing participants at the forum, Mrs. Kuku emphasized FAAN’s ambition to transition from a regional player to a global force in airport management.
“FAAN is very keen on becoming a major global player as an airport operator—not just locally or regionally,” she said. “To achieve this, we must invest heavily in infrastructure and, critically, in our people.”
She noted that the forum was created to align commercial stakeholders—particularly those involved in retail and land lease operations—with FAAN’s long-term development goals and plans for improving passenger experience and revenue generation.
The discussions focused on improving operational efficiency, enhancing service delivery, and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships to drive economic development within Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
Midweek, the FAAN boss attended a high-level security meeting with Nigeria’s top intelligence and law enforcement agencies at the Joint Intelligence Board (JIB)—a collaborative forum aimed at strengthening national security coordination.
Her presence at the meeting underscored the authority’s active role in ensuring aviation security across Nigeria’s airports and highlighted the growing intersection between aviation operations and national intelligence frameworks.
FAAN concluded the week with a Strategic Planning Session involving the Managing Director and the agency’s executive leadership. The session was aimed at setting key priorities for the second half of the year, including expanding non-aeronautical revenue, enhancing airport infrastructure, and deepening inter-agency collaboration on safety and security.
“It’s been a week of action, alignment, and clear direction,” Mrs. Kuku stated. “From reimagining business partnerships to reinforcing our national security obligations and strengthening strategic focus, we are charting a new path for FAAN.”
The week’s activities, stakeholders say, signal a more deliberate and strategic FAAN—one that is aligning its commercial vision with global standards while reinforcing its foundational role in national development and security.
