Fidelity Bank Plc has taken another bold step in its fight against food insecurity with the distribution of essential food items to residents of Victoria Island, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. This humanitarian outreach forms part of the bank’s ongoing Fidelity Food Bank programme, a nationwide initiative rooted in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework.
The outreach attracted hundreds of beneficiaries from different backgrounds, including vulnerable individuals and families grappling with economic hardship. Through this act of support, Fidelity Bank reinforced its commitment to driving sustainable impact in communities across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebayo Adeyinka, Executive Technical Assistant to the Managing Director/CEO of Fidelity Bank Plc, stressed the importance of the initiative in tackling critical issues within society.
“The Fidelity Food Bank was established to combat pressing societal challenges such as hunger, poverty, malnutrition, and high infant and maternal mortality. It is a direct response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger,” said Adeyinka.
“This initiative has reached IDP camps, flood-hit areas like Niger State, and many urban and rural locations. It is part of our long-term vision to positively impact lives nationwide.”
Also speaking at the distribution, Mr. Henry Asiegbu, Divisional Head of Operations at Fidelity Bank, described the growing success of the programme.
“The feedback from communities, government stakeholders, and our partners has been overwhelmingly positive. It has further encouraged us to expand our outreach and deepen our support,” Asiegbu noted.
Community members expressed heartfelt appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a lifeline in difficult times. Victoria Olubiyo, a resident and community representative, praised the bank’s continued support:
“Fidelity Bank always shows up for us. From ensuring their ATMs worked during the cash crunch to providing boreholes and now food packs – they’ve kept their promises and shown genuine concern. They’ve brought joy to families today. I encourage other banks to emulate this.”
Another recipient, Jerome Igbe, echoed similar gratitude.
“This gesture gives hope to many families going through hard times. I didn’t expect this kind of help. God bless Fidelity Bank for remembering us.”
