The League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) has announced that its 29th annual conference will focus on addressing the pressing challenges of aviation financing in Nigeria, amid current economic headwinds and policy shifts in the sector.
The conference, scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at The Providence Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, will bring together key stakeholders across the aviation value chain to deliberate on the theme: “Aviation Financing in Nigeria: The Risks, Opportunities and Prospects.”
This year’s event is expected to provide a strategic platform for high-level discussions on funding mechanisms, innovative investment models, and sustainable financial solutions to support the growth and stability of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Chairman of the LAAC Conference Committee, Mr. Wole Shadare, described the upcoming forum as a timely response to the sector’s financial realities, saying:
“Our 29th annual conference is a timely intervention that aligns with ongoing reforms in the aviation industry. With the right financial architecture and policy support, Nigeria’s aviation sector can unlock significant growth and competitiveness.”
The conference will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions addressing a range of topics, including aircraft leasing and maintenance financing, public-private partnerships in airport development, and multilateral support for aviation infrastructure.
Other critical areas of focus will include:
- Financing models for domestic airlines
- Risk mitigation strategies in a volatile economic environment
- Investment opportunities for local and international financiers
- Regulatory frameworks to encourage private sector participation
Among the expected attendees are the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, top executives of Nigerian airlines, officials of regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), aviation consultants, financial institutions, and representatives of multilateral development agencies.
The LAAC Conference has over the years evolved into a highly regarded policy dialogue platform, generating actionable insights that have influenced reforms and development strategies within Nigeria’s aviation industry.
With the sector facing rising operational costs, infrastructure gaps, and currency volatility, the 2025 edition is anticipated to chart a bold course for unlocking new investments and ensuring long-term sustainability for aviation in Nigeria.
