The Nigeria Customs Service Apapa command has realised a revenue collection of over N1.37 trillion in the last six months of 2025 representing a significant 37% increase over the previous year .
The Custom Area of the command ,Controller B.O Olomu disclosed this on Thursday July 3 to newsmen during a press briefing at its command headquarters in Apapa Lagos. He commended members of the press for their support and invaluable reportage which has enhanced Custom operations since he assumed office last year. Giving the breakdown of his achievements, he revealed that Apapa Command generated a total revenue of NI .378.059.019.245.2O making a significant rise from the NI 024.663.842.255.63 collected during the corresponding period in 2024.This represent an increase of over N354 billion within the period under review. Olowu attributed the impressive revenue performance to the diligence of Customs officers and compliance of traders at the port.
He further disclosed that going by the current performance, the Command is going to surpass the annual revenue target set for 2025.
In another development, the controller reveals that the command has impounded a total of 27 containers of prohibited items between January and June this year with a total duty paid value of N9.267 billion comprising unregistered pharmaceuticals, used clothing, expired margarine, wide animal skin , cordine syrup, stolen vehicles and sundry prohibited items. He also revealed that the command has sealed three bonded terminals for various infractions. He was full of appreciation for all the stakeholders within the Command’s port operations for their support even as he restated his Command’s commitment to up revenue generation, trade facilitation and national security.
