Air Peace Flight Skids Off Runway in Port Harcourt, No Injuries Reported

Air Peace has confirmed that one of its aircraft operating Flight P47190 from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a runway excursion upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Monday morning.

According to a statement issued by the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the aircraft veered slightly off the runway after touching down but came to a complete stop without sustaining any damage. All passengers and crew disembarked safely and without incident.

“There was a minor runway excursion, but the aircraft landed safely. All passengers disembarked calmly, and no injuries were recorded,” Efe said.

The airline assured the public that it remains committed to upholding the highest safety standards across its operations. It also noted that relevant aviation authorities have been duly informed, and a full assessment of the incident is underway.

“We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations,” the statement added.

Flight P47190 was on a scheduled domestic service from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos to Port Harcourt International Airport when the incident occurred. The airport has since resumed normal operations, and no flight disruptions were reported.

The incident comes as the aviation sector continues to place increasing emphasis on safety compliance and swift emergency response. Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading carriers, reiterated that its crew followed standard procedures in managing the situation.

Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to determine the precise cause of the excursion.
