JournalNG, a leading Nigerian general-interest magazine with a strong maritime focus, has been honoured with the Best Maritime Magazine Award by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON).

The award was presented at the 2025 AMJON Annual Conference, held in Lagos on Friday, July 17. The organisers cited JournalNG’s consistency as a bi-weekly publication, credibility, and commitment to closing information gaps within Nigeria’s maritime sector as key reasons for the recognition.

In a statement jointly signed by AMJON President Kelvin Kagbare, Secretary Segun Oladipupo, and Chairman of the Planning Committee Paul Ogbuokiri, the association described JournalNG as a reliable source of industry knowledge and a trusted reference for maritime stakeholders.

The publication distinguishes itself through its quality journalism, in-depth analysis, and insightful content that speaks directly to the needs of maritime professionals,” the statement noted.

The award panel also praised the magazine’s editorial excellence, visually engaging layouts, and its clear and cohesive editorial direction. Particular mention was made of JournalNG’s growing investment in digital innovation—specifically, its creative use of illustrations, cartoons, infographics, and multimedia storytelling.

During a pre-award citation, Ugo Ezurike, Publisher of Nation Update, commended the magazine’s evolving digital strategy and its ability to inform and entertain through impactful design and engaging content formats.

Reacting to the award, JournalNG Publisher Ismail Aniemu expressed appreciation, describing the honour as a motivation for his team’s continued dedication to maritime journalism.

This award is a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of our editorial team,” Aniemu said. “We see journalism not only as a profession but as a public service essential to the growth and development of our society.

The recognition underscores JournalNG’s growing influence and role in shaping discourse in the maritime industry, further reinforcing its status as a platform of record for sector stakeholders.
