The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has formally congratulated Honourable Yahuza Ado Inuwa on his appointment as Chairman of the Standards Council of SON by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In an official statement issued in Abuja, the Director General/Chief Executive of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, described the appointment as timely and strategic, coming at a period when the Organisation is intensifying efforts to entrench quality standards across sectors of the Nigerian economy.
“Hon. Inuwa is a seasoned administrator and respected statesman with an outstanding record of service. His visionary leadership and commitment to national development will undoubtedly strengthen our mandate and drive our standardization agenda forward,” Dr. Okeke said.
The appointment of Hon. Inuwa, widely regarded as a man of integrity, comes as SON seeks to deepen its impact in promoting quality assurance, consumer protection, and industrial competitiveness in line with international benchmarks.
According to SON, the Council under Inuwa’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in aligning Nigeria’s standards policies with its broader economic transformation agenda. Dr. Okeke expressed optimism that Inuwa’s tenure would inspire renewed stakeholder confidence and institutional efficiency.
“With Alhaji Inuwa at the helm of the Standards Council, we are confident that SON will continue to make measurable strides in building a safer, more productive, and standards-compliant Nigeria,” he added.
The Standards Council serves as the highest policy-making body of SON, providing oversight and strategic direction on standardization, certification, and regulatory policies.
As Nigeria pushes for increased adoption of Made-in-Nigeria products and improved competitiveness of local industries, SON says it looks forward to working closely with the new Chairman to consolidate ongoing reforms and position the Organisation for greater national and global relevance.
The Organisation concluded by wishing Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa a successful and impactful tenure.
