The much-anticipated Lagos Campus Beach Soccer Tournament kicks off today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Atican Beach, Lekki, marking a major milestone in youth sports development across Lagos State.
Billed as Nigeria’s biggest campus beach soccer event, the tournament is a collaborative initiative between the Lagos State Government and BrandEscort Communications, aimed at discovering and nurturing football talents from tertiary institutions within the state.
No fewer than 10 higher institutions are participating in the tournament, including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, Federal College of Education (Technical), and Lagos State College of Nursing, among others.
Speaking ahead of the kickoff, a representative from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development emphasized the importance of the event:
“This tournament is designed to empower young talents and promote sports as a tool for education, engagement, and professional growth.”
The competition promises a full day of exciting matchups, with students and sports fans expected to fill the beachside stands in support of their institutions.
As the sun rises over the Lagos shoreline, Atican Beach transforms into a vibrant arena where skill, determination, and school pride will take center stage in what is set to be a memorable day of beach soccer action.
