The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) on Friday took a major step toward enhancing institutional accountability and service delivery with the signing of a performance bond between its Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Akutah Pius, and the Council’s management team.

The event, which formed the highlight of a two-day Special Management Retreat held in Lagos, marked a renewed commitment by the Council to uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and operational excellence.

According to a statement issued by the Council on Saturday, the bond signing ceremony involved Directors, Heads of Departments, and Unit Heads. It serves as a collective pledge to improve internal performance, drive strategic goals, and support national economic growth through efficient trade facilitation.

“This bond signing marks a new chapter in NSC’s journey towards excellence,” Dr. Akutah said. “It symbolizes our collective resolve to work together to achieve our goals and make a meaningful impact on the Nigerian economy.”

He emphasized the importance of teamwork, accountability, and a results-driven culture across all departments. Dr. Akutah also urged stakeholders to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, in delivering on their agenda for sustainable development and improved service delivery.

The performance bond is expected to serve as a reference point for performance evaluation within the agency, aligning departmental responsibilities with broader national objectives.

The NSC reiterated that the move signals a stronger institutional commitment to delivering value to the shipping community and enhancing Nigeria’s trade competitiveness in the global maritime space.
