In a major push to boost insurance inclusion across Nigeria, Leadway Assurance has entered into a strategic bancassurance partnership with Ecobank Nigeria. The collaboration aims to deliver convenient, everyday access to insurance products through Ecobank’s vast physical and digital channels.
Unveiled on Thursday, the partnership allows Ecobank customers—ranging from individuals to small businesses—to access Leadway’s insurance solutions including life, health, motor, and home policies. These services will be available via Ecobank branches, mobile platforms, and other customer-facing outlets.
Kikelomo Fischer, Director of Sales, Retail and Partnerships at Leadway Assurance, described the alliance as a move to simplify insurance and bring it closer to everyday life.
“This isn’t just about expanding operations—it’s about removing barriers,” Fischer said. “With Ecobank’s wide reach and our tailored products, we’re making it easier for Nigerians to protect what matters most.”
Ecobank’s Head of Distribution Channels and Sales for Consumer & Commercial Banking, Adeola Ogunyemi, echoed this sentiment.
“We’re building a one-stop shop for financial services,” Ogunyemi stated. “Through this partnership, customers can meet both banking and insurance needs in one place—conveniently and confidently.”
The rollout will begin in select Ecobank branches, with trained product champions on hand to guide customers through available policies. These include Group Life Cover, Personal Accident Insurance, and Term Life plans—especially relevant for Ecobank staff and its retail customers.
Beyond access, the collaboration also focuses on awareness. The two firms will deploy educational campaigns through Ecobank’s mobile app, online platforms, and staff channels to boost insurance literacy and drive adoption.
With insurance penetration still low in Nigeria, this partnership is seen as a timely step toward reaching the underserved and protecting more lives and businesses.
