All eyes are on Lagos as the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) gears up to host its 29th Annual Conference on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Providence Hotel, GRA Ikeja.
This year’s conference, themed “Financing Aviation in Nigeria: Risks, Opportunities and Prospects,” is scheduled with top stakeholders from across the aviation, financial, and regulatory sectors expected in attendance.
The event is coming at a critical time for Nigeria’s aviation industry, which continues to grapple with rising operational costs, aging infrastructure, and limited funding for indigenous operators. The 2025 edition aims to provide strategic insights and actionable solutions to the industry’s persistent financing challenges.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, will serve as Special Guest of Honour, highlighting federal government interest in improving aviation sector financing through innovative models and partnerships.
Also billed to play a key role is Mr. Gbenga Alade, Managing Director/CEO of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), who will serve as Chairman of the Conference. His presence is expected to steer high-level discussions around AMCON’s experience with airline recovery and its role in driving sustainable financing for the sector.
A major highlight of the conference will be the official unveiling of a historic aviation compendium titled “Champions of Aviation Development (1999–2025)”. The publication will chronicle the efforts of individuals and institutions that have shaped the growth and transformation of Nigeria’s aviation industry over the past 26 years.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mr. Wole Shadare, a leading member of LAAC and part of the organising committee, described the conference as a timely intervention.
“This year’s theme addresses one of the most pressing issues in the industry. There’s an urgent need for a structured roadmap to support airline sustainability, infrastructure development, and capital access. We will engage global best practices and chart a course forward,” Shadare said.

With leading voices in aviation, finance, and policy in the room, we are confident this year’s focus on financing will unlock new opportunities and drive long-term growth.”
