The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended ValueJet’s operations following an incident involving one of its aircraft at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft departed from its designated bay during ground operations — a safety breach that triggered regulatory intervention.

In a statement, ValueJet confirmed its awareness of the incident and said it is cooperating fully with the NCAA’s ongoing investigation. “The crew involved were immediately removed from duty pending the outcome of a thorough internal review,” the airline stated.

ValueJet emphasized that safety remains its top priority. “We operate under strict regulatory compliance and international safety standards. This incident is being taken seriously, and we are committed to preventing any recurrence,” the airline said.

The NCAA’s swift action has been welcomed by aviation observers, with the incident expected to spark further discussion around safety protocols in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

ValueJet assured the public of its commitment to transparency and accountability, and said it will continue working closely with authorities as the investigation continues.
