Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, a move that underscores its ambition to cement its status as West and Central Africa’s aviation leader and accelerate its international expansion plans.

The new wide-body Boeing 777-200ER, with registration 5N-CEG, landed at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport at exactly 3:32 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, arriving from Teruel, Spain. The aircraft was welcomed with the traditional water-cannon salute, alongside a spirited reception led by the airline’s founder and Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema; Executive Director, Obinna Onyema; Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide; and other members of the management team.

Air Peace spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, told journalists that the acquisition reflects the airline’s vision to deepen global connectivity and raise the standard of long-haul travel for Nigerians. The aircraft is configured with 312 seats—including 26 premium Business Class seats and 286 Economy Class seats—designed to balance luxury, comfort, and affordability. Business Class passengers will enjoy private ambient seating with enhanced inflight comfort, while Economy passengers are assured of spacious legroom and quality service.

During a media tour of the aircraft, Dr. Onyema described the delivery as “a pivotal milestone in Air Peace’s growth journey,” noting that it forms a key part of the airline’s international strategy. He revealed that the aircraft will be deployed within the next two months to launch long-haul flights from Abuja to London Heathrow and Gatwick, followed by new routes into major European destinations, South America—particularly Sao Paulo, Brazil—and the Caribbean, expanding on Air Peace’s pioneering services into Antigua & Barbuda as well as St. Kitts & Nevis.

Onyema also emphasized that Air Peace remains committed to ensuring affordable and fair fares for Nigerian travelers, countering what he described as “years of exploitation by foreign carriers.” He further called for the creation of an efficient hub system in Nigeria to strengthen both regional and international air travel connections.

Expressing gratitude to the Federal Government, Onyema lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his policies that encourage indigenous airline growth and acknowledged Senator Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, for championing reforms that enable Nigerian airlines to compete more effectively on the global stage.

“With this aircraft, we are not just expanding our fleet; we are expanding Nigeria’s presence on the global aviation map,” Onyema affirmed.
