Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) have jointly marked a landmark achievement with the graduation of 122 young Nigerians from the Train 7 Human Capital Development (HCD) Advanced Training Programme.
The event, held at NLNG’s Finima plant complex in Bonny Island, represents a major stride in the Federal Government’s ongoing push to strengthen local participation in the oil and gas industry under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. The programme officially ends on September 30, 2025, when the trainees will depart NLNG’s plant facility.
Building Skills for the Future
The graduates, drawn from both graduate and vocational categories, had previously completed HCD Basic Training and went through an intensive three-month on-the-job training (OJT) at NLNG facilities. The training covered key areas including:
- Plant and facility management
- Instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Fabrication and welding
- Lifting and rigging operations
- Preventive and corrective maintenance
- Project management, health and safety, and emerging technologies
This approach, according to stakeholders, ensures that Nigeria’s oil and gas sector is supplied with highly skilled professionals capable of competing on a global scale.
A Testament to Excellence
Speaking at the ceremony, NLNG Train 7 Project Director, Engr. Ali Uwais, represented by Engr. Joshua Anemeje, Corporate Liaison Manager, praised the resilience and commitment of the graduates.
“This programme is about building a new generation of Nigerian professionals who will shape the oil and gas sector for decades to come. Its successful completion with a zero-incident safety record reflects not only your dedication but also NLNG’s uncompromising culture of ‘Safety First and Always,’” he said.
He acknowledged the NCDMB for its pivotal role and applauded training partners—Candix Engineering Nigeria Limited, AOS Orwell, Arco Marine and Engineering Limited, Dover Engineering, and Amaiden Energy Nigeria Limited—for ensuring the trainees received world-class exposure.
Collaboration Driving Impact
In a joint statement, NLNG’s Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Mrs. Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, and NCDMB’s General Manager, Corporate Communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, emphasized the power of partnerships.
“Today is proof that strategic collaboration delivers impact. By investing in people and building capacity, we are laying the foundation for sustainable national prosperity,” they stated.
Recognizing Excellence
NCDMB’s General Manager, Human Capital Development, Esueme Dan Kikile, Esq, described the Train 7 Project as not just a gas infrastructure development but also a platform for human capacity building.
“Twenty-seven participants have been specially recognized for their outstanding performance, and six exceptional graduates have already secured automatic employment with AOS Orwell. This is proof that the programme delivers real opportunities for Nigerian youth,” he announced.
He added that the training complemented academic knowledge with hands-on industry experience, preparing participants in specialized technical disciplines and project execution.
Shaping Nigeria’s Industrial Growth
Kikile urged the graduates to apply their skills in driving Nigeria’s energy sector transformation and contributing to economic growth.
“You now belong to a pool of globally competitive professionals. The skills you have acquired will not only advance the oil and gas industry but also strengthen Nigeria’s industrial base,” he said.
The ceremony ended with award presentations to deserving trainees, highlighting NLNG and NCDMB’s joint commitment to investing in people, strengthening local content, and supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic resilience.
