The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and pledged ongoing support for sister government agencies, emphasizing collaboration as a cornerstone of national development.

Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, made the declaration on Thursday, 25 September 2025, during a meeting with Professor Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, and his delegation at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja. The CGC highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation and sustaining strong institutional relationships.

“In our private discussions and through our engagements here, it is clear that maintaining good neighbourliness and mutual support is essential. This visit is a testament to the continued friendship and cooperation we have enjoyed over the years,” Adeniyi stated.

Highlighting the Service’s CSR initiatives, Adeniyi recalled that in the first quarter of 2025, the NCS adopted a secondary school in Wuse, impacting more than 2,000 students through the provision of learning tools and equipment. As part of the 2025–2026 capital projects, the Service is set to remodel the school’s assembly hall and install solar lighting facilities.

“Many of our officers began their careers in Wuse. Our professional history is intertwined with that community, and we remain committed to giving back,” he added.

Responding to a request from the Commission for operational vehicles, Adeniyi assured that the NCS had taken note and would consider support, emphasizing, “We may not be able to fulfill every request immediately, but our commitment to assisting sister agencies remains unwavering.”

Professor Olaopa commended the NCS for its innovations in revenue generation and institutional reforms, describing the Service as a “partner in progress.” He noted that the visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties and secure support for the Commission’s operational needs.

“We are proud to be associated with the remarkable strides of the Nigeria Customs Service. Even the President recognizes Customs’ innovations in revenue generation. Customs has become a model for other agencies,” Olaopa said.

He also revealed that the Civil Service Commission had recently launched its strategic plan and looked forward to enhanced collaboration with Customs, particularly in CSR projects and infrastructure development.

The meeting concluded with both institutions pledging to sustain cooperation, emphasizing shared responsibility in driving national growth and development.
