The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to service excellence, operational efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction as it joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 Customer Service Week with the inspiring theme, “Mission: Possible.”
The annual celebration, observed in NIMASA offices across the country, provided a platform for the Agency to reflect on its service culture, appreciate dedicated staff, and strengthen internal systems that enhance customer satisfaction and maritime governance in Nigeria.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at the Agency’s headquarters in Lagos, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, underscored that effective service delivery remains central to the Agency’s statutory mandate. He maintained that excellence in service must begin internally—through staff discipline, teamwork, and accountability—before being extended to external stakeholders across Nigeria’s maritime value chain.
“Providing service is paramount, both internally and externally. We must remain prepared, committed, and available to solve problems together as a team. Excellence in service delivery defines who we are and what we represent,” Dr. Mobereola stated.
He emphasized that NIMASA’s ability to achieve its goals depends largely on its workforce’s commitment to continuous improvement and responsiveness to both internal and external customers.
The NIMASA boss also highlighted that the Agency’s vision for the maritime industry can only be achieved through collaboration, dedication, and a shared passion for quality service delivery. According to him, “Customer satisfaction is not just a function—it is our identity and the key driver of institutional success.”
In her remarks, the Head of SERVICOM Unit, Hajiya Rakiyyah Lammai, applauded Dr. Mobereola for his consistent leadership and unwavering support toward strengthening NIMASA’s service delivery framework. She noted that this year’s theme, “Mission: Possible,” resonates deeply with the Agency’s determination to deliver world-class service despite challenges in the maritime environment.
“This celebration reminds us that excellent service is not an event but a way of life. It reflects our collective dedication to continuous improvement, responsiveness, and efficiency in serving both our internal and external customers,” she said.
Throughout the week, NIMASA staff nationwide engaged in a variety of activities, including customer feedback sessions, recognition ceremonies, internal competitions, and interactive workshops aimed at promoting innovation, empathy, and a customer-first mindset.
At the Agency’s headquarters, Executive Directors, Departmental Heads, and senior management staff participated actively in the celebrations, reaffirming their collective resolve to sustain service excellence as the foundation of NIMASA’s corporate culture.
Observers and industry stakeholders have commended NIMASA for maintaining a customer-centric focus in its operations, noting that its ongoing reforms and renewed emphasis on service quality are crucial to driving maritime safety, security, and environmental sustainability in Nigeria’s blue economy.
As the Agency continues to strengthen its role in promoting safety, security, and environmental protection across Nigeria’s maritime domain, the 2025 Customer Service Week stands as a bold reminder that service excellence remains the cornerstone of effective governance and national development.
