The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative infrastructure development with a powerful declaration: “Nobody builds great airports alone.” The statement, released through it’s verified social media platforms, comes as part of its mobilization campaign ahead of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria National Aviation Conference (FNAC) 2025, scheduled to hold November 17–18, 2025, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
FAAN’s message underlines a clear philosophy, that building world-class airports requires shared goals, strategic partnerships, and collective innovation.
“The best projects happen when the right partners come together with shared goals. FNAC 2025 is where those partnerships take shape. Let’s build together!”
This statement has been widely interpreted within aviation circles as a reaffirmation of FAAN’s progressive leadership approach under its current management, which prioritizes synergy among investors, airlines, regulators, and financial institutions to strengthen Nigeria’s airport ecosystem.
Experts Commend FAAN’s Collaborative Vision
Reacting to FAAN’s declaration, aviation management consultant and a strong Stakeholder, described the message as “a timely reminder that aviation development is never a one-agency affair.” He said:
“Airports represent national gateways and demand multi-sector partnerships. FAAN’s message is apt because collaboration remains the only way to achieve modern, safe, and profitable airports that meet global standards.”
Similarly, an aviation economist and partner at AeroMetrics Consulting, said the upcoming FNAC 2025 presents “an important opportunity for Nigeria to attract fresh capital and ideas” into the sector.
“Nigeria has the market and passenger volume to sustain profitable airport operations. What we need are policy-backed collaborations that ensure every investor feels secure and every passenger experiences quality service,” she stated.
A former Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Aviation, also commended FAAN’s focus on partnership, describing it as “a shift from transactional airport management to strategic ecosystem building.”
“Great airports are not built by funds alone, they are built by vision, cooperation, and consistent policy execution. FNAC is where these dialogues should happen, and it’s commendable that FAAN is providing that platform,” he said.
How Partnerships Shaped Nigeria’s Airport Growth
Since the inception of the FAAN National Aviation Conference (FNAC) in 2022, the platform has evolved from a policy forum into a continental hub for strategic engagement. It has hosted regulators, investors, and global aviation brands to discuss issues ranging from airport concessioning, air cargo development, security, and sustainability.
Past partnerships, such as the terminal modernization projects in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano, have demonstrated the value of collaboration. FAAN’s engagement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), African Airlines Association (AFRAA), and IATA has also strengthened Nigeria’s alignment with global best practices.
Through such collaborations, FAAN has improved safety protocols, operational efficiency, and revenue diversification, setting the stage for a new era of investor-driven airport growth.
FNAC 2025: Building Together for the Future
The 2025 edition of FNAC will spotlight investment opportunities, sustainability frameworks, and policy dialogues to reposition Nigerian airports as competitive aviation hubs. Stakeholders from across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East are expected to attend, including airport operators, financiers, logistics companies, and government agencies.
With the theme “Partnerships for Sustainable Airport Growth,” the conference aims to foster actionable outcomes that bridge the gap between policy intent and operational execution.
Industry observers believe that FAAN’s renewed call to “build together” reflects a deeper strategy, one aimed at transforming Nigeria’s airports into regional gateways that can compete with Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, and Nairobi.
FAAN’s statement “Nobody builds great airports alone” captures the spirit of collaboration and long-term thinking now shaping Nigeria’s aviation narrative. As the countdown to FNAC 2025 begins, stakeholders agree that the future of aviation infrastructure lies not in isolation, but in strategic alliances that balance public interest, private investment, and sustainable growth.
FAAN declares “Nobody builds great airports alone” as experts commend its partnership-driven approach ahead of FNAC 2025 in Lagos. The two-day conference will unite global aviation stakeholders to shape the future of Nigeria’s airport development.
