The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reaffirmed its commitment to employee welfare, teamwork, and organizational excellence as it concluded the 2025 FAAN Inter-Directorate Games with a thrilling grand finale between Team DES and Team DFA.
The event, which has become one of FAAN’s most anticipated internal engagements, was officially kicked off by the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection. The final match lived up to expectations, drawing excitement from staff across the Authority’s directorates and culminating in Team DES emerging as the tournament champion.
Addressing participants at the closing ceremony, Mrs. Kuku, through her representative, commended all the teams for their sportsmanship and unity throughout the competition. She emphasized that the Inter-Directorate Games reflect FAAN’s ongoing efforts to promote not only physical fitness but also collaboration, camaraderie, and mental wellness among employees.
“At FAAN, we recognize that our greatest asset is our people. These games remind us of the value of teamwork, communication, and shared purpose — all of which are critical to achieving our goals as an organization,” she stated.
The tournament, which featured various sporting activities and healthy competition across FAAN’s directorates, offered a refreshing break from routine operations while strengthening interpersonal bonds within the workforce. Staff members displayed exceptional enthusiasm and teamwork, with departments cheering on their colleagues in what has now become an annual symbol of unity and corporate culture at FAAN.
Mr. Agbebire, representing the FAAN boss, also noted that under Mrs. Kuku’s leadership, the Authority remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive and motivated workforce that drives operational excellence across Nigeria’s airports.
“Sports build not just physical strength but also emotional and social connections. When we play and win together, we build the same resilience and unity needed to sustain excellence in our daily operations,” he said.
The grand finale ended on a celebratory note with Team DES lifting the winner’s trophy amid cheers from staff and management.
