Daniel Falodun of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has emerged as the winner of the prestigious 2025 Nigeria Cape Town Convention (CTC) Moot Court Competition, defeating Eloho Tolulope Okandeji of the University of Benin in a highly engaging and closely contested final.
The grand finale took place on November 12, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The event was organized by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Aviation Working Group (AWG), bringing together the nation’s brightest legal minds in the field of aviation law.
The competition attracted participants from 18 leading universities across Nigeria. Through structured courtroom simulations, students demonstrated exceptional advocacy, legal research, and analytical skills, tackling complex legal issues surrounding aircraft leasing, financing, and repossession under international aviation law.
The Cape Town Convention Moot Court Competition is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world legal practice, equipping aspiring lawyers with practical experience in one of the most critical instruments governing global aviation finance. Participants gain firsthand exposure to cross-jurisdictional legal and financial frameworks, preparing them for careers in both domestic and international aviation law.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted the initiative’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s legal and regulatory capacity in the aviation sector. The competition also provides a platform for networking, mentorship, and professional development, ensuring that future legal practitioners are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s aviation industry.
