Air Peace has addressed the diversion of its Lagos–Owerri flight on Friday, explaining that the aircraft was unable to land at the Sam Mbakwe Airport due to adverse weather conditions that made operations unsafe.
In a statement signed by the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, Air Peace noted that the flight was forced to return to Lagos after weather conditions in Owerri dipped below regulatory landing limits. The airline stressed that the diversion, though inconvenient, was necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
The development, according to the airline, caused a ripple effect across its network, disrupting subsequent scheduled flights. Air Peace confirmed that all affected passengers were notified promptly and that its customer service team is actively supporting travelers with updates and alternative arrangements.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. Safety remains the cornerstone of our operations, and decisions like this reflect our uncompromising commitment to the wellbeing of our passengers and crew,” the statement said.
Air Peace advised passengers seeking further information or assistance to contact its call centre through available channels. The airline reiterated that it will continue to uphold the highest global safety standards while managing the operational challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions.
Air Peace explains its Lagos–Owerri flight diversion caused by severe weather conditions, apologizes to passengers, and reaffirms its commitment to safety while working to minimize disruptions across its flight network.
