NAHCO, NDLEA Deepen Aviation Security Collaboration as New MMIA Commander Visits Lagos Headquarters

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Plc) has reiterated its commitment to aviation security and operational efficiency following a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Strategic Command, CN Muhammad Tukur Ahmad.

The visit, which took place at NAHCO’s Head Office in Lagos on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, marked the Commander’s first official engagement with the ground handling company since assuming office and highlighted the longstanding strategic relationship between both organisations.

Speaking during the visit, CN Ahmad described the engagement as a “homecoming” rather than a routine courtesy call, noting the historically strong and productive collaboration between the NDLEA and NAHCO. He commended NAHCO’s role in supporting security operations at MMIA, particularly in intelligence sharing, cargo handling oversight, and compliance with international aviation security standards.

According to the NDLEA Commander, sustained cooperation between law enforcement agencies and aviation service providers remains critical in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and other transnational crimes within the aviation sector. He expressed optimism that the partnership would be further strengthened to meet emerging security challenges.

Welcoming the NDLEA delegation, NAHCO’s Group Executive Director, Corporate Services, Dr. Sola Obabori, thanked the Commander for the visit and praised the NDLEA for its professionalism and dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s aviation gateways. Dr. Obabori reaffirmed NAHCO’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with the agency to ensure secure, efficient, and seamless ground handling operations at MMIA and other airports nationwide.

He stressed that strong inter-agency cooperation is essential to protecting the aviation value chain, improving service delivery, and sustaining Nigeria’s credibility in the global air transport industry.

The NDLEA delegation included the Deputy Commander, MMIA Strategic Command, CN Akinleye Oluwafunmilayo; DC Admin/Logistics, DC Ndukwu Chidi; Head of Operations, SAHCO, CN Muhammad Usman; Head of Operations, NAHCO, CN Isah Mohd Zuru; DC, Operations and Training, DCN Rabiu Hussaini; Chief Security Officer, ACN Isah R.U.; Officer-in-Charge, NAHCO Export, CAN Bala A. Umaru; Head of Media, ACN Job Blessing I.; the Commander’s Secretary, ASN I Ogbodo Nnenna; and Media Team member, ASN II Aiyenomuro Funmi.

NAHCO’s management team present at the meeting included the Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju; General Manager, External Affairs, Mr. Bashir Gulma; Cargo Services Manager, Mr. Oluwole Olalandu; Security Services Manager, Col. Olumide Kolajo (Rtd.); Legal Officer, Mrs. Ajike Adetula; and Security Supervisor, Mr. Buba Adamu.

The visit further underscored the shared commitment of NAHCO and the NDLEA to strengthening aviation security, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting a safe and globally competitive airport environment in Nigeria.
