The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has reinforced its commitment to education and community development with the successful hosting of a schools debate competition for primary school pupils in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The grand finale of the competition, held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Owoseni Primary School, Oshodi, drew the attention of key stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof, members of the council’s executive team, education officials and community leaders.

The debate championship, themed “Inspiring Young Voices, Building Tomorrow,” was designed to develop critical thinking, leadership and communication skills among young learners. It provided pupils with an opportunity to engage in healthy intellectual rivalry, build confidence in public speaking and gain exposure beyond their regular classroom environment.

During the final round, participating schools debated the motion: “Which is best for leaders: a single seven-year term or two four-year terms?” The pupils delivered well-structured arguments, demonstrating clarity of thought, confidence and impressive analytical skills.

At the end of the keenly contested debate, Mafoluku Primary School emerged as the overall winner, clinching first place. State Primary School, Oshodi secured second position, Oshodi Model Primary School finished third, while Larinde Primary School placed fourth.

Speaking at the event, the AGM, Corporate Communications, NAHCO Plc, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, who represented the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Olumekun, said the initiative underscores the company’s belief that education remains a powerful tool for sustainable development.

According to him, NAHCO’s corporate social responsibility strategy is focused on delivering long-term impact within its host communities by investing in programmes that empower young people and nurture future leaders. He stressed that the company sees community development not as an obligation, but as a shared responsibility and a core part of its corporate values.

NAHCO Aviance has, over the years, supported its host communities through a wide range of strategic CSR initiatives, extending its influence beyond aviation ground handling operations. The company’s continued support for educational development reflects its commitment to inclusive growth and human capital development.

Through initiatives such as the Oshodi-Isolo schools debate competition, NAHCO Aviance continues to demonstrate that its impact goes beyond the airport tarmac—helping to shape minds, inspire confidence and build a stronger foundation for Nigeria’s future.

NAHCO Aviance strengthens its CSR drive by sponsoring a schools debate competition in Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos, empowering primary school pupils and promoting education, leadership and community development.
