NNPC Restores Escravos–Lagos Pipeline to Full Operations After December Explosion

 NNPC Limited has successfully restored the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) to full operations following the unexpected explosion that occurred on December 10, 2025. The swift recovery highlights the company’s technical expertise, operational resilience, and commitment to Nigeria’s energy security.

Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC Limited, said the company acted immediately after the incident. “We activated emergency response protocols, deployed coordinated containment measures, and mobilized multidisciplinary teams to repair, pressure-test, and safely recommission the damaged section of the pipeline,” Odeh said. “Today, the ELPS is fully operational, reaffirming our dedication to uninterrupted energy supply.”
Odeh credited the rapid restoration to the collaboration of key stakeholders, including host communities, regulatory agencies, security personnel, partners, and staff.

“Through their support and vigilance, we turned a challenging situation into a success story, completing repairs in record time while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards,” he noted.
