FAAN, MTN Nigeria in Talks to Boost Wi-Fi and Digital Services Across Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced discussions with MTN Nigeria on a potential partnership aimed at strengthening Wi-Fi connectivity and enhancing digital services across Nigeria’s airports.
The talks took place on Monday, January 27, 2026, when the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, received a high-level delegation from MTN Nigeria at the Authority’s headquarters in Lagos. The MTN team was led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Karl Toriola, alongside other senior executives of the telecommunications company.

The meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities to improve internet access and overall digital experience for passengers, airlines and other airport users. Stakeholders at the session examined how reliable, high-speed connectivity could support smoother passenger processing, improve customer satisfaction and drive the adoption of smart airport solutions in line with global aviation standards.

Mrs. Kuku reaffirmed FAAN’s commitment to modernising airport infrastructure through technology-driven initiatives, noting that digital connectivity has become a critical component of efficient airport operations and service delivery. She stressed that strategic partnerships with leading technology providers would accelerate FAAN’s vision of transforming Nigerian airports into world-class facilities.
In his remarks, Dr. Toriola expressed MTN Nigeria’s willingness to support FAAN’s digital transformation agenda by deploying innovative telecommunications solutions tailored to the unique needs of the aviation sector. He said improved airport connectivity would enhance passenger experience while enabling more efficient, data-driven airport management.

The engagement highlights a growing collaboration between the public and private sectors to deploy digital infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s aviation growth, improves operational efficiency and positions the country’s airports to compete more effectively on the global stage.
