The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, on Wednesday hosted a high-level delegation from British International Investment (BII) in Abuja, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to deepening financial sector reforms and attracting sustainable foreign investment.
The BII team was led by its Chair, Ms. Diana Layfield, and accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Montgomery. The strategic meeting forms part of ongoing engagements by the apex bank to strengthen investor confidence and build long-term partnerships capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda.
Speaking during the engagement, Cardoso reiterated the CBN’s unwavering focus on macroeconomic stability, credible monetary policy implementation, and regulatory transparency. He noted that the Bank’s data-driven and reform-oriented approach is aimed at reinforcing the resilience of Nigeria’s banking system while improving financial intermediation across critical sectors of the economy.
The CBN Governor emphasized that restoring institutional credibility and fostering international collaborations remain central to unlocking sustainable growth and expanding capital inflows. He further highlighted the importance of development finance institutions such as BII in supporting infrastructure financing, private sector development, and inclusive economic expansion.
Members of the BII delegation expressed optimism about Nigeria’s evolving reform landscape and conveyed interest in exploring investment opportunities aligned with long-term economic development priorities.
