Nestlé Nigeria Plc has been officially recognised for its outstanding supply chain security and compliance practices, receiving the highest Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Security and Safety certification from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). This elite status, valid for five years, acknowledges the company’s strict adherence to trade regulations, global best practices, and robust supply chain controls.

The award follows a rigorous evaluation process, including detailed audits and on-site operational assessments. From 391 applications submitted nationwide, only 35 companies achieved full AEO certification, with an even smaller number attaining the coveted Security and Safety status.
At the certificate presentation in Abuja, Comptroller-General of NCS, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), described the milestone as proof that compliance is achievable even in challenging trading environments.

“With the presentation of certificates today, it is a clear testament that compliance is indeed possible, even within an ecosystem often challenged by non-compliance,” Adeniyi said.

Assistant Comptroller NU Awa, AEO National Lead, emphasised the significance of Nestlé Nigeria’s operational discipline:
“Nestlé Nigeria was granted AEO Safety and Security certification in recognition of the very high safety and security standards observed during the validation process. This certification reflects the Service’s trust in the company’s compliance framework and its commitment to strengthening supply chain security.”

For Nestlé Nigeria, the AEO Security and Safety certification delivers tangible business benefits, including faster customs clearance, reduced inspections at ports and warehouses, improved material availability, and stronger regulatory engagement. These advantages enhance supply chain efficiency while ensuring uninterrupted delivery of products to consumers nationwide.

Kasum Diabate, Supply Chain Manager, Nestlé Nigeria, commented on the recognition, highlighting the company’s strategic approach to responsible operations:

“This certification recognises the strength and integrity of our supply chain. At Nestlé Nigeria, we are deliberate about building systems that are secure, compliant, and resilient from sourcing to delivery. Being awarded the highest AEO Security and Safety status by the Nigeria Customs Service reinforces the trust placed in our operations and our responsibility to support efficient and responsible trade in Nigeria.”

With over six decades of operations in Nigeria, Nestlé Nigeria continues to prioritise compliance, transparency, and collaboration while serving millions of consumers daily. The AEO certification reinforces the company’s position as a trusted partner in Nigeria’s economy, setting a benchmark for responsible business practices and supply chain excellence.
