Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the media as a strategic tool to advance innovation, tourism, and economic development in Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by Princess Adenike Adegoke, Director of Lagos Operations at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical Services at MMA2, Mr. Remi Jibodu, described the engagement as a partnership between two critical national institutions—aviation and broadcasting—both pivotal to Nigeria’s growth.
“Operational excellence, innovation, and passenger experience are at the heart of MMA2’s mission,” Mr. Jibodu said. “Our terminal is designed not just as a transit hub, but as a destination that enhances comfort, convenience, and engagement for travellers. From the integrated car park and seamless terminal access to the art gallery, retail outlets, and vibrant food court, every feature ensures passengers feel welcomed rather than burdened by travel delays.”
He highlighted the airport’s role during the “Detty December” travel surge, emphasizing that MMA2 is instrumental in facilitating tourism and presenting a modern, vibrant image of Nigeria to both returning diaspora and international visitors. “As one of the first points of contact for many travellers, MMA2 carries the responsibility to help reshape perceptions about our country,” he said.
Mr. Jibodu expressed confidence that sustained collaboration with media organizations like FRCN would amplify the positive stories of the aviation sector, strengthen tourism, and contribute to national economic development.
Responding, Princess Adegoke described FRCN as a powerful national platform capable of projecting institutional achievements across Nigeria and beyond. She noted that the Lagos operations manage three major stations—Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5, and Bond FM—with the latter broadcasting in indigenous languages, including Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba, ensuring inclusivity and cultural reach.
“Radio Nigeria provides a familiar voice wherever Nigerians are, helping listeners feel at home through language and culture,” she said. Princess Adegoke commended MMA2 for its visible infrastructure upgrades, professionalism, and improved passenger experience, calling the terminal a glowing example of private sector efficiency in airport management.
She also highlighted the growing international profile of the Detty December travel surge, which has evolved into a global convergence point for Lagos-bound travellers. The FRCN Director assured MMA2 management that the corporation would continue to amplify their achievements across nationwide networks, digital news platforms, and social media. She further emphasized the corporation’s readiness to produce public service announcements and specialized programs to educate travellers on airport procedures, safety measures, and new developments.
The partnership between MMA2 and FRCN represents a forward-thinking model of cross-sector collaboration, combining infrastructure excellence with strategic media engagement. By aligning aviation operations with media outreach, MMA2 is positioning itself as a benchmark for modern airport management in Africa while promoting tourism, innovation, and economic growth across Nigeria.
