Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of ultra-modern Ground Support Equipment (GSE), reinforcing its commitment to safety, efficiency, and world-class service delivery across Nigeria’s aviation network.
The leading aviation ground handling company announced the addition of a state-of-the-art Goldhofer F300 pushback tractor and five high-performance Ground Power Units (GPUs) as part of its strategic investment in advanced ramp infrastructure.
Goldhofer F300 Enhances Wide-Body Aircraft Handling
At the heart of the upgrade is the Goldhofer F300 pushback tractor, manufactured by Germany-based Goldhofer, a globally respected producer of heavy-duty Ground Support Equipment.
The diesel-powered tractor is engineered to service most wide-body aircraft types and is constructed with rugged components tailored to withstand demanding operational environments such as Nigeria’s airport terrain. According to SAHCO, the equipment has already been deployed to one of its major hub stations to enhance turnaround time and strengthen aircraft movement efficiency.
Industry analysts note that modern pushback tractors like the F300 are critical to safe and seamless apron operations, particularly at high-traffic airports where precision, power, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Five Advanced Guinault GPUs Added to Ramp Operations
In addition, SAHCO has taken delivery of five cutting-edge Ground Power Units manufactured in France by Guinault, a globally recognised aviation equipment brand.
Each GPU delivers 45kVA capacity on 115 volts and 28VDC output, providing stable and efficient electrical power supply to aircraft systems while on ground. The units are powered by fuel-efficient gasoline engines and are designed for durability, mobility, and high ramp performance.
Mrs. Adetola Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, stated that the GPUs are capable of supporting most Class A aircraft and select Class B aircraft.
She explained that their compact design helps reduce fuel consumption while their rugged construction ensures long-term operational reliability and flexibility, particularly in high-traffic airport environments where equipment performance directly impacts airline schedules.
Driving Safety, Efficiency, and Service Excellence
The acquisition forms part of SAHCO’s ongoing investment in cutting-edge GSE aimed at:
Improving operational safety standards
Reducing aircraft turnaround time
Enhancing ramp efficiency
Delivering superior service to airline partners
As the only aviation ground handling company with operational presence across all commercially operated airports in Nigeria, SAHCO continues to position itself as a benchmark for service excellence through continuous fleet renewal and technological upgrades.
Aviation stakeholders say sustained investment in modern GSE is critical at a time when Nigeria’s aviation industry is experiencing increased passenger traffic and expanding airline operations.
Consolidating Leadership in Africa
The latest acquisition further strengthens SAHCO’s standing as one of Africa’s leading ground handling service providers. With a broad portfolio that includes passenger handling, ramp services, cargo operations, aircraft cleaning, crew transportation, and aviation support solutions, the company has consistently pursued operational innovation to meet global best practices.
By integrating high-performance equipment from reputable international manufacturers, SAHCO is not only improving efficiency but also reinforcing confidence among its airline clients operating within and into Nigeria.
