The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the revocation of the registration of Kensington Agro Trading Limited as a capital market operator, effective immediately. The company, which was previously licensed as a Commodity Broker/Dealer and Collateral Manager, is no longer authorized to conduct capital market activities in Nigeria.
According to the Commission, the action is taken pursuant to Section 61(6) of the Investments and Securities Act, 2025, and Rule 34(1) of the SEC Rules and Regulations, 2013, as amended. The revocation reflects SEC’s ongoing mandate to enforce compliance and maintain integrity within Nigeria’s capital market.
In a public notice, SEC urged all commodity exchanges, market participants, investors, and other stakeholders to immediately discontinue any dealings with Kensington Agro Trading Limited. The Commission stressed that engaging in capital market transactions with the company could expose investors and traders to legal and financial risks.
“This notice serves as a precaution to protect the investing public and to uphold the standards of the capital market,” the SEC statement said. “All market operators and stakeholders are expected to observe this directive with immediate effect.”
The SEC also reminded investors that the regulatory body continues to monitor and take necessary action against any operator that fails to comply with the laws governing Nigeria’s capital markets.
