During a bureau-wide town hall, Captain Alex Badeh Jr. urged open dialogue and constructive engagement, highlighting that a motivated, well-supported workforce is central to strengthening NSIB’s investigative operations nationwide.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening staff welfare, improving operational effectiveness, and promoting transparent leadership within the Bureau during a comprehensive town hall meeting with employees.
The engagement, held at the Bureau’s headquarters in Abuja, brought together members of the management team and staff across various departments, while personnel from regional offices in Lagos, Kano, Enugu, Yola, and Asaba joined the session virtually via Zoom.
The interactive meeting created a platform for open dialogue between leadership and the workforce, allowing employees to share concerns, offer suggestions, and seek clarification on a wide range of issues affecting workplace conditions, welfare, and operational activities within the Bureau.
Participants from both the headquarters and regional offices actively contributed to discussions, highlighting operational challenges, administrative concerns, and opportunities to improve coordination across the Bureau’s national network.
In his remarks, Captain Badeh Jr. emphasized that strong internal communication and staff engagement are critical to the success of the Bureau’s mandate, particularly as the organization continues to strengthen its role in investigating transport-related accidents and incidents across the country.
He noted that the Bureau’s effectiveness depends heavily on the dedication and professionalism of its workforce, adding that management remains committed to creating an enabling environment where staff members can perform their duties efficiently and with the necessary institutional support.
According to the NSIB chief, town hall meetings provide an important opportunity for leadership to listen directly to employees and to ensure that policies and operational decisions reflect the realities faced by staff on the ground.
“The strength of any institution lies in its people. Engagement like this allows us to understand concerns firsthand and work collectively toward solutions that enhance both staff welfare and operational performance,” he said.
The Director-General responded to several questions raised during the session, addressing issues ranging from workplace welfare and career development to logistics and operational resources needed to support the Bureau’s investigative functions.
The session also featured the formal introduction of two newly posted directors who recently joined the Bureau’s management team.Mrs. Funke Adebayo, who assumes the position of Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance

Captain Badeh Jr. expressed confidence that the experience and professional background of the new directors would strengthen the Bureau’s administrative structure, enhance communication with stakeholders, and support the agency’s overall institutional reforms.
Industry observers note that regular engagement between leadership and employees is increasingly becoming a key management strategy within public institutions, helping to foster transparency, improve staff morale, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
For the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, the town hall meeting reflects a broader effort by the current leadership to build a responsive, accountable, and professionally driven institution capable of delivering on its mandate of conducting independent and credible safety investigations across Nigeria’s aviation and transportation sectors.
As the Bureau continues to expand its operational footprint nationwide, stakeholders say initiatives that encourage internal dialogue and collaboration among staff will play a crucial role in strengthening institutional capacity and maintaining high standards in accident investigation and safety oversight.
