Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) brought together its partners, clients, and key stakeholders for a memorable Ramadan Iftar lecture and dinner, reinforcing its commitment to ethical business practices, professional integrity, and collaboration within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Held at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, the event attracted a broad spectrum of aviation stakeholders, including airline representatives, handling agents, regulators, government officials, and other industry partners. It was designed not only as a spiritual reflection during the holy month of Ramadan but also as a platform to foster professional networking, strengthen partnerships, and encourage adherence to ethical standards in aviation operations.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, SAHCO Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, welcomed attendees and extended appreciation on behalf of Dr. Taiwo Afolabi (CON), SAHCO Chairman. She emphasized the company’s strong values of inclusivity, faith, and mutual respect across religious and cultural lines.
“Ramadan teaches reflection, sacrifice, compassion, and discipline,” Mrs. Aboderin said. “These are not just personal virtues but also principles that guide professional conduct and corporate responsibility. Events like this enable SAHCO to reinforce relationships while promoting ethical practices and professionalism in the aviation industry.”
Insights from Distinguished Scholars
The event featured two lectures by esteemed Islamic scholars, addressing the spiritual and ethical dimensions of Ramadan and their relevance to professional life.
Professor Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf, a renowned academic, presented a lecture titled “Ramadan as a School of Spiritual Discipline, Economic Justice, and Ethical Business Transformation.” Professor Yusuf explained that fasting extends beyond abstaining from food and drink, serving as a training ground for self-control, fairness, compassion, and accountability. He emphasized that businesses and individuals who integrate these values into their operations contribute to a more ethical, transparent, and sustainable economic environment.
Following this, Imam Ibrahim Tirmidhee, Imam of the Aviation Workers Central Masjid at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters in Ikeja, delivered a lecture titled “From Ramadan to the Workplace: The Role of Taqwa in Ensuring Ethical Practices in the Aviation Industry, Airport Operations, and Cargo Businesses.” Imam Tirmidhee highlighted the concept of Taqwa (God-consciousness), stressing its importance in guiding professional integrity, accountability, and dedication. He noted that the aviation sector, which relies heavily on trust, safety, and professionalism, benefits when individuals uphold strong moral and ethical standards.
Unity and Networking Over Iftar
The lectures were followed by a communal Iftar dinner, where guests broke their fast together in an atmosphere of unity, reflection, and goodwill. The dinner provided additional opportunities for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange insights, and strengthen industry partnerships.
The event was attended by SAHCO Directors and Management staff, airline partners, government regulators, industry stakeholders, and well-wishers. Attendees commended SAHCO for organizing an event that emphasizes ethical values, inclusiveness, and collaboration across Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
Through initiatives such as the Ramadan Iftar lecture and dinner, SAHCO continues to demonstrate its leadership in promoting ethical business practices, fostering partnerships, and cultivating a supportive corporate culture within the aviation sector.  SAHCO hosts partners and stakeholders to a Ramadan Iftar lecture and dinner in Lagos, fostering ethics, unity, and professional excellence in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
