Nigeria’s rapidly expanding carrier, ValueJet, is set to elevate regional air travel with the launch of its Lagos–Accra service, scheduled for March 30, 2026. This new route represents a major milestone in the airline’s strategic expansion across West Africa and positions it as a key player in connecting the region’s economic and cultural hubs.
The inaugural flight will operate daily from the state-of-the-art terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The Lagos–Accra corridor ranks among the busiest in West Africa, serving a mix of business travelers, tourists, and diaspora communities. By tapping into this high-demand route, ValueJet aims to make cross-border travel more efficient, affordable, and seamless.
This launch follows ValueJet’s recent international debut with its Banjul service, signaling a broader vision to create a robust regional network. Future plans include connecting key cities such as Cotonou in Benin and Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, offering travelers multiple options to explore West Africa’s diverse commercial and cultural landscapes.
For the airline, the Accra connection represents more than just a new destination; it is central to its mission of delivering accessible air travel while fostering stronger economic and cultural links between Nigeria and Ghana. “This route is a defining milestone that extends our footprint beyond Nigeria and reinforces ties between two of West Africa’s most dynamic economies,” said Omololu Majekodunmi, Managing Director of ValueJet.
Industry experts predict that the Lagos–Accra service will have a multiplier effect on trade, tourism, and regional collaboration. The corridor has seen rising demand driven by business expansion, growing tourism flows, and an active diaspora network. ValueJet’s entry is expected to boost competition, enhance passenger experience, and stimulate cross-border economic activities.
To meet anticipated demand, ValueJet has reinforced its fleet with CRJ-1000 aircraft, ensuring improved efficiency, comfort, and reliability on both domestic and regional routes. Passengers can also expect competitive fares, innovative promotional offers, and a commitment to on-time performance.
Backing from Ghana Airports Company Limited will ensure smooth ground operations, supporting a seamless travel experience for passengers on both ends of the route.
As the countdown to the inaugural flight continues, ValueJet’s Lagos–Accra service emerges as a strategic bridge linking people, markets, and opportunities across West Africa. With this move, the airline not only expands its network but also cements its position as a forward-looking carrier driving the future of regional aviation.
