
The book, titled “Trends in Nigeria’s Insurance Industry (2005–2025) & Selected Insurance Icons,” was formally launched at a well-attended event in Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing top professionals, regulators, and thought leaders.
Industry practitioners described the publication as a timely and invaluable contribution to insurance knowledge, noting that documenting such a vast period of sectoral evolution is both rare and commendable in today’s publishing landscape.
Speaking at the event, Popoola revealed that the book is a product of her extensive experience covering the insurance beat for 20 years, offering deep insights into key developments, reforms, and personalities that have shaped the industry. She emphasized that the publication is designed to serve as a critical resource for researchers, educators, and students, particularly in insurance and actuarial science.

Reviewing the book, Tope Adaramola, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, praised its depth and historical relevance. He noted that it captures pivotal milestones, including the 2007 recapitalisation exercise, as well as other defining moments that influenced the industry’s trajectory.
President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Yetunde Ilori, described Popoola as a dedicated and versatile journalist whose work continues to drive awareness and growth within the sector. She added that her commitment has significantly elevated the profile of insurance reporting in Nigeria.
Similarly, Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association, Kunle Ahmed, lauded the author’s contribution, stating that the book stands as a lasting documentary that will outlive generations and serve as a reference point for future industry players. 
Also speaking, President of NCRIB, Ekeoma Ezeibe, applauded Popoola’s professionalism and exemplary character, noting that her growing platform, Daily Economy, continues to make significant impact in financial journalism.
Chairman of the occasion, Feyisayo Soyewo, highlighted Popoola’s illustrious career, recalling her multiple award wins during her time at The Punch. He expressed confidence that her experience will further strengthen Daily Economy as a credible industry platform.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission, Olusegun Omosehin, represented by Rasaaq Salaami, urged journalists to contribute more actively to insurance education through authorship. He stressed that increased documentation and public enlightenment are essential to improving Nigeria’s still-low insurance penetration.
The event, which also marked the second anniversary of Daily Economy, featured strong participation from key stakeholders, further underscoring the industry’s collective endorsement of knowledge-driven growth.
With this publication, Popoola not only cements her legacy as a leading insurance journalist but also delivers a foundational text poised to shape discourse, policy, and education in Nigeria’s insurance sector for years to come.
