Flight operations were temporarily disrupted on Tuesday at the Domestic Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), following a technical fault that affected baggage screening and processing systems, according to Air Peace.

The airline stated that the incident resulted in slower-than-usual baggage handling and loading procedures, causing delays for some departing flights and creating operational bottlenecks at the terminal.

Technical fault slows baggage processing

Air Peace explained that the disruption was triggered by a malfunction in baggage screening equipment used for passenger luggage processing at the domestic terminal.

The airline noted that while flight operations were not completely halted, the efficiency of baggage checks and loading processes was significantly affected, leading to longer processing times for passengers.

Alternative screening procedures are activated

To reduce the impact on travellers, Air Peace confirmed that it immediately activated alternative screening arrangements using available equipment within the airport system.

However, the airline warned that these emergency procedures may continue to cause extended waiting times and possible delays in scheduled departures until normal operations are fully restored.

Passengers advised to expect delays

The airline urged passengers to remain patient and cooperate with airport personnel as ground teams work to manage the situation.

Air Peace also confirmed that additional staff have been deployed to assist passengers, provide updates, and prioritise affected flights where necessary.

Collaborative effort to restore normalcy

According to the airline, it is working closely with airport authorities at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to resolve the technical issue and restore full baggage screening capacity as quickly as possible.

Despite the disruption, Air Peace assured passengers that safety and regulatory compliance remain fully intact, and all flights continue to operate under enhanced procedures.

Apology and reassurance

The airline expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their understanding during the disruption, reiterating its commitment to restoring seamless operations and minimising further delays.

Further updates are expected as the situation improves and normal baggage processing is restored.
