The Nigerian insurance industry is entering a new phase of strategic reflection as stakeholders gather at the CAMCONIA Retreat, held at the Park Inn by Radisson Abeokuta, to advance discussions on trust-building, improved communication, and national relevance for the sector.
The retreat, themed “Reimagining Insurance: Towards a Unified Narrative, Trust and National Relevance,” has brought together regulators, operators, innovators, and policy influencers committed to reshaping how insurance is understood and valued across Nigeria.
A major spotlight at the event is on Odion Aleobua, Founder and CEO of Creato Urban and Convener of the Insurance Meets Tech (IMT), who is expected to deliver key insights alongside other industry leaders.
Ahead of the event, Aleobua, speaking through his Instagram handle @odionaleobua, expressed his perspective on the urgent need to reposition the insurance industry for broader public understanding and acceptance. He emphasised that the future of insurance growth depends heavily on how effectively the sector communicates value to everyday Nigerians.
“How do we actually move the needle for insurance in Nigeria? It starts with a unified voice,” he stated, underscoring the need for coherence in messaging across the industry.
He further noted that insurance must move beyond technical jargon and adopt clearer, more relatable narratives that resonate with citizens, stressing that relevance and simplicity are key to expanding adoption.
According to him, “If insurance is going to matter at scale, we have to make it make sense to people,” adding that stronger alignment among operators, regulators, and innovators is essential to rebuilding trust and driving penetration.
The CAMCONIA Retreat continues through April 11, with participants expected to develop actionable strategies aimed at repositioning insurance as a critical driver of financial security and economic resilience in Nigeria.
Insurance leaders converge in Abeokuta at the CAMCONIA Retreat, where Odion Aleobua and other stakeholders call for a unified narrative, stronger trust, and improved public understanding to reposition Nigeria’s insurance sector.
