The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the ruling party remains Nigeria’s most structured, nationally rooted and electorally resilient political organisation, capable of sustaining governance, stability and long-term development in a period of national transition.
Speaking in Abuja on key political and governance issues, Yilwatda said the APC is not only preparing for future elections but is actively consolidating its internal systems, strengthening democratic culture, and reinforcing its capacity to manage the complex demands of a diverse federation like Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, the APC National Chairman emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford political experimentation with what he described as unstable or poorly structured alternatives at a critical stage of national development.
APC ‘Built for National Responsibility’
Yilwatda said the APC has, over time, demonstrated institutional maturity, nationwide reach, and administrative competence required to govern Africa’s largest democracy.
“The All Progressives Congress is not an ad hoc coalition held together by convenience. It is a tested and enduring political machine built on structure, spread, experience, and the capacity to respond to the real needs of Nigerians,” he stated.
He maintained that the party remains committed to supporting reforms under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that governance requires courage, patience, and political stability to deliver long-term economic and institutional reforms.
Yilwatda added that the APC understands the weight of governing at a critical moment in Nigeria’s history and will continue to provide the political backbone necessary to sustain reform efforts and deliver democratic dividends.
Opposition Parties ‘Structurally Weak’ — APC Faults Internal Crises
The APC chairman also took aim at opposition parties, saying their recurring internal crises reveal a lack of preparedness for national leadership.
He argued that political platforms unable to manage internal disagreements, enforce discipline, or maintain unity cannot be trusted with the responsibility of governing a complex federation like Nigeria.
“A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria,” he said, pointing to what he described as persistent factional disputes, legal battles, and organisational instability within opposition ranks.
He urged Nigerians to differentiate between “political noise and governance capacity,” insisting that the APC continues to evolve while others remain trapped in cycles of internal conflict.
APC Says It Prefers Electoral Victory Through the Ballot
Yilwatda further stressed that the APC does not rely on procedural technicalities or backroom arrangements for electoral success, but believes in winning through democratic competition and public trust.
He said the party values legitimacy derived from popular support rather than engineered outcomes.
“Victory is sweeter when it is earned through persuasion, performance, and political engagement,” he said.
Security: Mass Trial of Terror Suspects Shows State Strength
On national security, Yilwatda described the ongoing mass trial of more than 500 terrorism-related suspects as a significant demonstration of institutional seriousness under the Tinubu administration.
He said the development reflects a shift from arrests alone to full judicial accountability, reinforcing public trust in the justice system.
According to him, the government’s approach combines military operations, intelligence coordination, and legal prosecution to ensure that insecurity is addressed comprehensively.
He added that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through force alone, but must be anchored on justice, lawful prosecution, and visible consequences for criminal conduct.
Osun APC Tasked on Discipline and Strategic Campaigning
Turning to party affairs in Osun State, the APC National Chairman commended the state chapter for its organisational readiness but warned that enthusiasm must be matched with discipline and structured planning.
He called for a unified campaign command structure with clear responsibilities, measurable targets, and strict coordination to avoid internal conflict.
Yilwatda also warned against ego-driven divisions, overlapping authority, and poor communication within campaign structures, noting that such weaknesses often undermine electoral success.
He urged the party to adopt a data-driven, ward-based strategy focused on voter behaviour, grassroots engagement, and message consistency.
“Osun is not just another election. It is a strategic test of organisation, discipline, and momentum ahead of future national contests,” he said.
Call for Unity and Party Cohesion
The APC chairman called on party leaders, youth groups, women’s wings, and stakeholders in Osun State to work in unity, stressing that internal cohesion is essential for electoral success.
He said the APC’s strength lies in discipline, loyalty, and collective purpose, adding that personal ambition must never override party interest.
Yilwatda reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to national renewal, economic recovery, democratic stability, and institutional strengthening, describing the party as “tested, prepared, and committed to the hard work of governance.”
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda says the party remains Nigeria’s most tested and structured political platform for stability, national renewal, security reforms, and democratic governance under President Bola Tinubu.
