He also disclosed growing interest from partner organisations seeking to collaborate with the initiative this year, noting that the Fund is expanding partnership opportunities to credible institutions aligned with its educational mission.

“The Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition remains one of our flagship education initiatives. We believe investing in teachers is investing in Nigeria’s future,” Odenigbo said, adding appreciation for partners including Honda Automobile West Africa Limited, Union Bank Plc, and Air Peace.
Stakeholders Call for Education Reform
Guest speaker Azeez Saheed highlighted the urgent need for better recognition of teachers, noting that many educators in Nigeria are underappreciated despite their critical societal role.
During a panel session themed “How Educational Support Can Enhance Learning Outcomes for Teachers and Students,” Princess Adaobi Ekwuno of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) called for increased government investment in school infrastructure.
Similarly, Gbenga Ayetoba stressed that the teaching profession has suffered prolonged neglect and requires urgent policy attention to restore its value.
The President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), Lagos State, Olushola Masheyi, praised the initiative, warning that declining interest in teaching among top talents is affecting education quality nationwide.
He urged stakeholders beyond government to collaborate in finding sustainable solutions to the sector’s challenges.
