In a glaring display of sensationalism, Sahara Reporters and select online platforms have falsely reported that Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, was “stranded” for over 24 hours at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport due to a lack of navigational aids. Even more concerning, they claimed his pilot engaged in a “risky manoeuvre” to exit the airport—a completely baseless and irresponsible assertion.
Setting the Record Straight
According to Air Peace’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the reports are false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the airline’s reputation. Here are the actual facts:
- Weather-Related Diversion, Not Airport Deficiency:
The aircraft scheduled to pick up Dr. Onyema on Saturday evening could not land due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility—a common challenge in global aviation. As a standard safety precaution, the flight was rerouted back to Lagos. This had nothing to do with the airport’s facilities. - No ‘Risky Manoeuvre’:
Contrary to Sahara Reporters’ claims, Air Peace adheres to strict international safety standards. No pilot under the airline’s command would undertake reckless actions, making the suggestion of a “risky manoeuvre” a fabrication designed to mislead the public. - Deliberate Misinformation by Sahara Reporters:
Despite having access to the correct details, Sahara Reporters chose to spread falsehoods instead of upholding journalistic integrity. Such reckless reporting not only misinforms the public but undermines the credibility of the Nigerian aviation industry.
Air Peace’s Unwavering Commitment to Safety
Air Peace has built its reputation on prioritizing safety, professionalism, and excellence. Every operational decision is guided by global best practices, ensuring the security of passengers and crew.
This attempt to distort reality with sensational headlines will not deter Air Peace from maintaining its world-class aviation standards and providing safe, reliable, and efficient air travel.
