Nigeria’s largest privately owned carrier, Air Peace, has once again raised the bar in African aviation with the official launch of its London–Abuja direct service, extending its growing international footprint and reinforcing Nigeria’s global aviation presence.

The milestone event was celebrated in style at The Clermont Hotel, Charing Cross, London, where industry leaders, diplomats, innovators, and education experts gathered for a special Air Peace cocktail reception that showcased Nigeria’s rising influence in the global aviation industry.

Among the distinguished guests was Mr. Tony Ojobo, former Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and now a leading expert in innovation, leadership, and public affairs strategy. Reflecting on the evening, Ojobo described the launch as “a bold step forward for Nigerian aviation and a testament to the power of vision and persistence.”

He also shared insights from his engaging discussion with Professor Chris Imafidon, a globally acclaimed education and innovation expert known for his work on academic excellence and leadership transformation.

“I had the pleasure of connecting with the distinguished Professor Chris Imafidon, a globally respected authority in education, innovation, and leadership,  at the Air Peace cocktail event. The evening celebrated not just the launch of a flight route, but a bridge between nations,” Ojobo noted.

Ojobo emphasized that their conversation centered on strategic innovation, leadership development, and educational collaboration between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

“With Professor Imafidon’s pioneering work in transforming education outcomes and my focus on strategic innovation and public affairs, we explored possibilities for future partnerships that can unlock talent, advance leadership, and strengthen UK–Nigeria collaboration,” he added.

The launch of the London–Abuja route follows the airline’s successful London–Lagos operation, which began earlier this year to great acclaim. This new route is expected to further boost connectivity, trade, tourism, and investment opportunities between both nations while offering Nigerians more affordable travel options on international routes previously dominated by foreign airlines.

Aviation industry watchers have described Air Peace’s consistent expansion as “a game changer for Africa’s aviation narrative.” The airline’s strategic move, they note, signals Nigeria’s readiness to compete on the global stage and reduce dependence on foreign carriers.

Professor Imafidon, in his remarks, praised Air Peace for its vision and impact on Nigeria’s image abroad.

“Air Peace is not just connecting cities — it’s connecting minds, talents, and opportunities. This is how nations grow stronger through collaboration,” he said.

Aviation analysts also believe that Air Peace’s growing international operations could stimulate knowledge exchange, tourism development, and cross-border partnerships, serving as a catalyst for broader economic and cultural cooperation between Nigeria and the UK.

Ojobo concluded on a hopeful note:

“This milestone by Air Peace not only improves connectivity, it accelerates opportunity, knowledge exchange, and growth. The future of Nigeria’s aviation and global partnerships looks even brighter.”

With the addition of the London–Abuja service, Air Peace now solidifies its position as Africa’s most dynamic and progressive carrier, flying the Nigerian flag proudly across continents and rewriting the story of African excellence in global aviation.
